Newport School District will be closed tomorrow, January 16th due to adverse driving conditions caused by snow accumulation on the county roads as well as side roads within the city limits. Drive safely and stay warm. Go Hounds!
Attention NHS Parents,
Report Cards are going home with your student today.
Newport School District is scheduled to be out Monday, January 15th as per our district calendar. We have the possibility of significant winter weather forecasted for Sunday into Monday. Snow or ice accumulations along with extended periods of below-freezing temperatures could impact our scheduled return to school on Tuesday, January 16th. Look for announcements on our school website and Facebook pages along with Region 8 school closings on KAIT. Student and staff safety is always the main priority.
Be Safe and Stay Warm!
Attention NSD Parents:
To clear up any confusion students return on Thursday the 4th NOT tomorrow.
Thank You
Sorry for the confusion.
Parents & Guardians of NHS Students,
We were made aware today of a possible Scam attempting to gain access to financial information in other school districts. A parent received a phone call that was intended to SCAM the recipient into giving credit card information to the caller.
The caller referenced the High School’s name, ACT test prep, and may even have the student's correct address and phone number. Should you receive such a call, please be aware that we have not authorized anyone to contact our district patrons and the caller is not affiliated with Newport High School!
Legitimate organizations won't ask for sensitive details over the phone. Stay vigilant to avoid potential scams and protect your financial security.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Bus 12 will not be able to run its route this morning. If students who ride Bus 12 cannot make it to school today, it will not count against them. We are working diligently to have this issue resolved before the afternoon route. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Parents,
This is a reminder about our lockdown drill tomorrow.
Newport School District will be conducting a lockdown drill on the morning of October 24th, 2023 at 8:20 AM. This will involve local law enforcement, both city and county and our faculty, staff, and students are aware of this drill. These drills can take up to an hour to complete. This announcement is an effort to inform the community so as not to cause any undue alarm or stress. If your child has an appointment or will be arriving late for any reason that day, please plan accordingly because no one will be allowed to enter or leave campus until the conclusion of the drill. As always, we take the safety and security of our students very seriously and appreciate your cooperation and support in our efforts.

NSD K-12 Parents,
Remember no school tomorrow or Friday for Fall Break.
Thank You.
Journalism and East classes visited KAIT 8 in Jonesboro today. They got to tour the newsroom and control room. Anchor Diana Davis and Meteorologist Aaron Castleberry met with them and answered questions. Some got to try their hand at telling the weather. They even got to hear some breaking news minutes after it happened. It was a great trip.
Bus 14 will be running late this morning. Sorry for the inconvenience.
