It appears the incoming weather has been forecasted to reach us around 3pm. With rain and winds up to 30 mph. This is very concerning when considering travel for teachers, students, and buses. The chance for tornadoes looks to be a little later with a greater chance between 4 and 9 pm. To ensure the safety of all our staff and students, Newport School District will dismiss at 1pm today.
Please understand, should a tornado warning be issued at any time when students are on campus, they will not be released until the warning has been canceled. We take the well being and security of your children very seriously and want to ensure that they are safe when in our care.
The tornado shelter located on the high school campus behind the Freshman Academy will also be open this evening. The shelter located at 400 N. Pecan will be open as usual.

The elementary Parent-Teacher Conferences are tomorrow, February 13th, from 2:15 to 6:30 p.m. Teachers have sent scheduled times home for parents to attend. We will have Early Dismissal tomorrow. K-5 Car Riders will dismiss at 1:15, PREK Car Riders will dismiss at 12:30, and Bus Riders will load at the Elementary school at 1:40.
