Newport School District

As the May 13th school board election approaches, I wanted to take a minute to provide the community with some important information concerning the ballot. State law requires that the millage rate be placed on the ballot in each election. Newport School District currently has a millage rate of 37. This is the rate you will see on the ballot. The district is not asking for a millage increase. A vote of yes or no does not matter on this particular ballot item. The current rate will remain in place no matter the outcome of the vote . Jackson Co. School District is currently seeking a millage increase, but that does not change millage rates for Newport School District. Go Hounds!
