What do you love about teaching at Newport?
I love teaching at Newport for numerous reasons! Honestly, the community here has felt so welcoming, and quickly became my second home! Getting to see students' faces every day along with my coworkers is a feeling I cannot describe. Meeting the people of Newport has been one of my biggest blessings, and I hope one day I can repay that blessing. Thank you to those of you who have supported me throughout my time here!
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I am going to have to backtrack for this to fully make sense. Going into teaching I thought was going to be something I would only be able to do for a short time I doubted myself that I would be able to teach students. It is so much more than just teaching concepts though, because it is about reaching the students, supporting the students, and loving the students --that is what I enjoy the most. Getting to see when students find a passion for science, finally understanding math, when they win a game or even cheer at a pep rally. I love getting to talk to the kids, learning each of their personalities, and watching them grow in every way. When they truly are enjoying themselves fills me with so much joy!
What was your favorite memory from High School?
My favorite memory in High School was getting the opportunity to join clubs with friends such as Beta, Honors Society, FTA and so many more! One of the things I was able to experience in this time was getting to volunteer in the Humane Society, and getting to shadow teachers! Two separate clubs that brought so many friendships, memories, and fun! Also, the creative writing course I was in was one of the best things I was able to do, and I used to hate writing! Thank goodness for such amazing, dedicated teachers growing up!!
