The Newport Special School District Board of Directors met this evening to discuss the wearing of masks for the start of school on Monday.  Mr. Bunch made the recommendation to require masks while students were on campus and on school provided transportation for the first 30-days of the 2021-2022 school year.  After the first 30-days the school will determine whether the masks requirement would continue based on the level of COVID spread in Jackson County.  If the county is at level red it would continue and if green masks will be optional.  Following in-depth discussion the board voted 4-2 in favor of approving the recommendation.

Students and staff will be required to wear masks for the first thirty days of the 2021-2022 school year starting Monday, August 16.
