Newport School District

Mr. Gary Ragen, State Community Preparedness Coordinator with the Arkansas Department of Public Safety Division of Emergency Management, is running a pilot program in 9 Arkansas schools to implement FEMA educational materials in elementary schools and CERT teams in high schools. CERT (Community Emergency Response Teams) is a program that educates individuals about disaster preparedness for hazards and trains them in basic disaster response skills. Newport is the 1st school to have organized CERT teams through this program.
